Not long ago while sitting and drawing, I was reminded, hearing on the news
that various Polar Bear populations around the world are decreasing... They
currently are listed as a vulnerable species. wwf.panda.org/what_we_do/where…

Climate change, pollution, and the constant search for new sources of oil in the
 arctic keep these bears in an unstable position. The ice they need to hunt and 
spend most of their time surviving on cannot stay reliable for the time they
need to hunt- that is, before heading to land around the second half of the year.

It's really alarming; habitat loss from the ice caps will not only affect Polar Bears,
but also all other species that rely on such an environment.
From WWF:
""By 2040, scientists predict that only a fringe of ice will remain in Northeast Canada and
Northern Greenland when all other large areas of summer ice are gone. This "Last Ice Area"
is likely to become important for polar bears and other life that depends on ice."

Every now and then, I'd like to get at least a little information out about threatened
species, and I know this is just a snippet of what there is to know about the situation
with the melting ice floes, but I thank you for taking the time to read this.  

<sub>Either way, this was a relaxing, comfortable painting to do, and I'm surprised
by how quick I finished it! Why don't I draw bears more?
